Meet Sean
Sean has worked with concrete for 40 years, since he was 18, and spent 20 years in painting and decorating. He is hands-on, and he cares about how each piece is made and how it is finished.
Castscape began as his patio slab and fencing business, and since 2020 it has been casting garden ornaments. The range now runs to around 200 designs, from small pieces of about 15cm (6 inches) up to statues and planters of around 1.2m (4 feet). Most are garden ornaments: statues, planters, bird baths and feeders, hand-painted characters, stepping stones and pet memorials. We also make house numbers, and football plaques for Ely and Soham clubs, sold with the clubs’ permission. Some of the designs are Sean’s own. Not everything is shown in the gallery, so if you are after something in particular, ask us.

How each piece is made
Every piece starts in one of our own moulds. The concrete is poured, left to cure, then finished by hand, and all of it happens on site. Every piece is made by hand here in Littleport, not mass-produced. Sean makes them all himself, and we do not buy in ornaments to resell.
Sean is particular about the mix. He uses one he has chosen for ornament work, with durability in mind. Our ornaments are cast in solid concrete and made to be frost resistant, so they can stay outside all year round.
Many designs are available in two finishes. Natural stone pieces settle into a garden and weather gently with time. Painted pieces are painted by Sean in exterior paint and sealed with lacquer. A lot of care goes into every piece: the casting, the detail and the finish. Sean’s years in painting and decorating show in the painted pieces.
Every piece is made to last. Ask us how to look after yours and we will tell you what is best for it.
The yard and workshop
Our yard is open to the public six days a week, closed on Thursdays. We do not make to order: the pieces we sell are made ahead, so you can see them in person and take yours home. If you are coming for a particular design, call or message us first and we will check we have it. Visiting the yard has opening times and directions.
We deliver free within 10 miles of the yard on orders over £75. We do not deliver smaller orders, but you are welcome to collect from the yard. Send us your postcode and we will confirm.
A personal service
Tell us where a piece is going and we will help you choose a size and finish that suits the spot.
We can add a name tag to any ornament: a small steel tag, like a dog tag, with the name on it. It takes about 3 days, and we will give you the price when you ask. A name tag is the only personalisation we offer.
When you buy, ask us how to look after your piece and we will tell you what is best for it.

Who it is for
For people who care what goes in their garden
- People who would rather buy something made properly, close to home, by the person who made it.
- People who value craftsmanship and want a piece that stays looking right for years.
Sean has spent his working life learning materials, finishes and what makes something last. He is stubborn about doing things properly, and he would rather make something well than make it cheaply.
